The Metrino rapid transport in Dubai is a lightweight, sustainable mobility solution based on a system of state-of-the-art pods that would connect city destinations in a 6-mile radius.
Brazilian architecture firm Fernandes Arquitetos Associados designed the project as an interactive system that integrates various means of transportation into a single, efficient network. Each pod – housed under an elegant petal-like station – holds four passengers and can provide everything from views of Dubai’s beautiful scenery to efficient transport between the water, parking areas and shopping destinations.
Metrino would connect thousands of people across an area over 6 miles in radius, providing easy access to Dubai’s waterfront, subway, parking lots and Dubai Mall. Transparent and interactive, the pods would accommodate up to 4 passengers and transport them through a system of light guide beams.
Each pod has an interactive control panel that concentrates all the functions, destination, system map, information about the city and its sights, music, alerts and advertising. The beam system, supported at every 82 feet, lead to beautifully designed stations and distribution points sheltered under petal-shaped canopies.
